The most popular route is called “The Long Walk,” which starts at Mweka Camp at an altitude of 3,200 m (10,000 ft). This route takes about 10 days to reach Kibo Peak. Unlike mount Kenya Ama Dablam, Manaslu, Mount Everest takes more than 30 days to climb.

Mount Kenya is home to an interesting climbing history—in fact, it’s where Mount Elgon was discovered in 1902 by British explorers. This caused a change in the way that climbers approached Mount Kenya. Previously, climbers would scale a mountain using ropes and ladders, but after Mount Elgon was discovered, they started using fixed ropes and climbing equipment to climb faster and more efficiently.
